The Sauder Racing crew entered the last night of points racing at the Peoria Speedway with 19 points on second place. As they went through the heat race Doug found himself second. Qualifying him for his starting spot in the feature (1st). Doug started the feature and found himself creepying out to a lead that would later take him to victory lane for the 5th time this year! Thus locking the championship up for him! The whole Sauder Racing team would like to thank S.A. Moreland Landscapes, E.M Smith & Co. Machinists, Sutherland Ace Hardware, and CJ Signs for their support this year.
"WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS", and we'd like to keep it that way.
The track was tacky and the racers were ready to do battle as Sauder Racing went into the night. As the heat race came about, Doug found himself outside second row. He went onto battle Steve Brandt Jr. and finished third to; (1) John Farris, (2) Steve Brandt Jr., and (3) Doug Sauder. Doug went on to draw the number 2 which put him outside front row. When the feature hit the track Doug sailed out into the lead. With 3 to go, Kristina Brown (8k), found herself on Doug's bumper. As they were coming to the checkered flag, she inched Doug out by no more than a half of an inch. Doug and crew were very proud of their run, and had a great time doing so. Great racing, clean racing, and a fun time. Some of the key elements to dirt track racing.
As Doug Sauder and the crew entered the night at the Peoria Speedway all they had on their minds was fun. As the heat race rolled out Doug started second row outside, but due to a scratch in the position he found himself inside second row. The heat race brought us some very tense moments and in the end Doug piloted the 289 to the 3rd place. Doug went on to draw the pole position for the feature. When the feature found their way to the track, Doug started inside front row. As the field took the green and Doug found the line to run, he pulled John Farris for the first half of the race. As the track went away Doug was searching for more grip letting John catch up to his rear bumper. With two laps to go Doug found him self in a great race with John and continued that for the remainder of the race. At the end of the night Doug found himself yet again in victory lane! This marks the 4th feature win of the season, and Doug's 15th career feature win in the Pro-Street class.
